Settings in Desktop Local

The Settings section consists of the subsections, each of which contains specific information and provides access to corresponding actions:

  • Account is used to set up an account.

  • Program is designed to manage the desktop settings.

  • Playback is designed to set up video playback.

Account

In the Account section, the information is presented on the General information tab, from where the user can perform various actions:

  • View the current username and login.

  • Change the password.

  • Log out.

Program

In the Program section, the user can perform the following actions:

  • Select a language.

  • Set limits to the number of open layouts.

  • Manage automatic loading of layouts and detached windows on application launch.

  • Manage automatic full-screen mode when opening a layout in a detached window or on another monitor.

  • Prevent detached layouts from minimizing with the main workspace.

  • Prevent closed detached layouts from opening within the main workspace.

  • Enter a path to save exported files to enable automatic downloads to that directory. If no path is specified, a directory selection dialog will appear each time a file is downloaded from the desktop application.

  • Manage the display of all layout templates in Archive/DVR. When enabled, the user gets access to additional layout templates that contain up to 16 cameras.

Operating numerous high-definition cameras can negatively impact performance, potentially leading to slowdowns, freezes, and increased network utilization. Make sure your device is compatible.

  • Manage notification sound.

To save the settings, select Save changes.

Changes will take effect once the application is restarted.

Playback

In the Playback section, the user can perform the following actions:

  • Select a playback protocol.

  • Manage content buffering.

While buffering ensures smoother content playback, it comes with potential drawbacks like playback delays and increased RAM usage.

  • Select the buffer size. The setting is active when content buffering is enabled.

  • Manage hardware acceleration.

  • Control the automatic switch to low quality streams during high CPU or network usage.

  • Select an audio output device.

To save the settings, select Save changes.

Changes will take effect once the application is restarted.
